This Privacy Policy explains how IngredientSubstitutes.com (the "Website"), operated by Click Clack Labs LLC, a company based in New York, United States ("we", "us"), collects, uses, and shares information when you visit. Where data protection law uses the term, we are the data controller for the Website. The Website is free to use and is paid for by advertising, so most of what follows is about advertising and the choices you have. By using the Website you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
We collect limited information, in two ways:
- Information you provide: if you contact us, we receive the email address and message content you send. The Website has no accounts, comments, or sign-up forms.
- Information collected automatically: like most sites, our hosting and security providers and our analytics and advertising partners automatically receive standard technical data (IP address, browser type, device and operating system, language, referring page, pages viewed) and use cookies and similar technologies, as described below.
2. Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small text file that a web server sends to your computer or mobile device so that a website can remember information about your browsing activity. First-party cookies are set by the website you are visiting; third-party cookies are set by a different domain and are commonly used for advertising and analytics. Cookies, tags, pixels, beacons, local storage and similar technologies (together, "Tags") are used on the Website to measure how it is used and to deliver, target, and measure advertising.

3. Advertising: Journey by Mediavine
The Website works with Journey by Mediavine (Mediavine, Inc.) to manage the third-party, interest-based advertising that appears on it. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the Website, and these may use first-party and third-party cookies and other Tags.
When serving personalized advertising, Mediavine and its partners may collect the following through Tags:
- IP address
- operating system type and version
- device type
- language of the website
- web browser type
- email address in hashed form, where you have given one to a participating service (the Website itself does not ask for one)
Mediavine's partners (the advertising companies that receive data through Mediavine) may combine this with information they have collected independently or from other sources, such as advertising IDs or pixels, to deliver interest-based advertising across your devices, browsers, and apps. That information can include usage data, cookie and device information, information about your interactions with advertisements and websites, geolocation data, traffic data, and the source that referred you to the Website. Partners may also create unique IDs in order to build audience segments for targeted advertising.

4. Consent and your privacy choices
Our advertising partner provides the Website's consent management platform, which is registered with the IAB and follows its Transparency and Consent Framework (EEA, UK, Switzerland) and Global Privacy Platform (United States).
- EEA, UK, and Switzerland: you are shown a consent message on your first visit. Advertising and analytics cookies stay off until you choose, and stay off if you decline. You can reopen the message and change or withdraw your choice at any time from the privacy link at the foot of any page.
- United States: where state law gives you the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information or of targeted advertising, you can do so from the privacy link our advertising partner places at the foot of the page.
- Everywhere: the browser controls in Section 2 and the industry opt-outs in Section 3 are available to you.
5. Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns, such as which pages are read. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes data such as IP address and usage events. We use Google's Consent Mode: in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, analytics storage stays disabled unless you consent through the message described in Section 4. 6. Service providers
The Website is hosted by Vercel and delivered and protected by Cloudflare. Both process standard request data (such as IP address and user agent) on our behalf to serve pages and to keep the Website secure.
7. Affiliate and sponsored content
No substitute is listed, ranked, or recommended because someone paid for it. Some pages or advertising units may contain affiliate links, including links to Amazon. If you click such a link and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate relationships do not change the substitution information we provide.
8. Your rights under the GDPR (EEA / UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time as described in Section 4. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Our legal bases for processing are your consent (for analytics and personalized advertising) and our legitimate interest in operating, securing, and funding the Website. The Website is operated from the United States, and information collected through it is processed there and in the other countries where our partners operate.
9. Your rights under US state privacy laws
Residents of California (CCPA/CPRA) and of other US states with comprehensive privacy laws have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its correction or deletion, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information and of targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. However, allowing advertising partners to use cookies for cross-context behavioral advertising may be a "sale" or "sharing" under these laws; the categories involved are the identifiers and internet-activity information described in Section 3, disclosed to the advertising partners listed there. You can opt out as described in Section 4, and make any other request through our contact page. Tell us which state you live in and what you are asking for; an authorized agent may make a request for you with proof of your permission. We respond within 45 days, and if we decline a request you can appeal by replying to our decision. We do not collect sensitive personal information, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
10. Data retention and security
We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described here or as required by law. Cookies set by our partners expire on the schedules those partners set. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
11. Children's privacy
The Website is a general-audience site. It is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA and UK), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
